Finally.......

I'm finally getting my sewing/craft room. I've been dreaming about this day for years and I've finally said screw the guest room time to think about me. The only problem now is that all my excuses will go out the window for not getting things done or starting that one of many businesses I constantly talk about. Doing any work before was impossible because my youngest lovable and adorable as he is, is a freaking tornado and destroys anything he gets within a mile of (lucky his so damn cute).

So we are still smack bam in the middle of getting it ready as we are trying to find room to store all the furniture (this room used to be the nursery, the boys have now been moved into the spare room as a share room because it's bigger.) Here are some pics for you guys to see how it's coming along and how I'm using the space.

The Pooh Bear runner was already in this room and as we moved in so soon before L was born we never changed it but I will be covering it up with something else now.
That little person is L aka tornado he looks sweet but don't be deceived he is causing mischief as this photo is being taken and yes that is some of my craft supplies in the corner YIKES!!!!! i need to get to work.
So the desk is about as far as I've gotten, already with my partners work shorts piling up for repairs he rips at least one pair a week.

Now off I go to get to work with cleaning out this room. Oh and in other news I GOT ENGAGED!!!! after 7 long years and 2 beautiful boys he finally popped the question YAY!!!!!

Great Gifts for New Mums

Hi guys no posts yet again ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i suck ha ha but i thought i would do a little list of great gifts for new mums.

When a baby is on the way mothers get an abundance of clothes and toys and a whole lot of things that quite often will never even get used when what they really need is a little rest and some time to bond. So when you pop in for a visit instead of a big pile of pastel covered presents give one of these ideas a go.

  • A Cleaner
  • Frozen Meals are a godsend for a tired new mums
  • Spa Package or Massage
  • Simply walk in the door make her a cuppa or send her for a nap and then go do some washing or any other housework you can help with
  • Nappy Washing Service if she is choosing to cloth diaper
  • Magazine Subscription to her favourite magazine or a parenting magazine for that rare quiet moment or those 2 am feeds
  • Brunch or Lunch when she feels up to it take her out for a meal and if the baby cries offer to hold them or change a nappy whenever you are able so that she can eat her meal without stopping every 2 mins
  • Ironing Lady ironed clothes tend to be one of the first things to go by the wayside for new mums and it's hard enough to find clothes that fit let alone clothes that fit that aren't creased like mad from being bundled in a basket after dropping the washing to tend to a hungry baby
  • A Kind Word keep your advice and tidbits to yourself and just simply let her know she is doing a great job the biggest thing a mum needs is to know is that she is doing well it may not be the way you would do it but she knows her baby better then anyone else so just let her feel it out for herself and let her know she is doing a fantastic job whether she thinks so or not.
Just a few gifts that will make a real difference to a new mum a lot more of a difference then that 25th bodysuit or 6th rattle.

Thanks for reading guys hope this gives you a few ideas and comment below with any ideas of your own and i will do a revised list later in the year with all of them on it (and your name of course)

Welcome Everyone

Hi Everyone well this is my Blog and it will be following my journey towards becoming the Perfect Modern 50's Housewife, Think Bree Van Der Kamp (from Desperate Housewives) but without the screwed up kids and insanity ha ha.

This is not an experiment for me this is all about a life change. My whole life all I ever wanted to be was the perfect mother and 50's housewife. Well I became a Mum on 15th June 2007 but have failed miserably from the get go don't get me wrong I am a great Mother and My Beautiful boy is amazing but I can always improve and when it come to the housewife side well lets not even go there it's a complete disaster.

I have always had a fascination with the 40's through to the 70's, but the 50's are my real love I would love to have been a mother in those times to have lived to see the world then, I love the clothes, the lifestyle, the furnishings everything about it.

So I have decided it must be a gentle transition bit by bit I will be changing everything the way I talk (drop the slang and naughty words) the way I dress (bit more class longer hemlines) the way I act (more like a lady) the way I care for my home (everything) and they way i spend time and relate to my partner and son.

So please come and follow me on my journey to become the perfect 50's style housewife and mother for the modern age.
